Global VC consultancy introduces a vibrant new look.
Global Startups connects companies in Europe with technology from Silicon Valley, and also helps US companies expand in Europe. When it was time to evolve its identity they asked Liquid to lend their expertise. Our teams delivered a sophisticated new identity and a simple, yet elegant new website. As they say in Europe: “Bravo!”
Conceptually, the new corporate logo for Global Startups is not that different than the old one - but from a design standpoint, it is worlds apart - pardon the pun. At first the assignment was to develop a new website, and did not involve a new identity, however as we started presenting our initial designs for the new site, it became apparent that the old logo would simply look dated and out of place. Given that Global Startups is a fairly young company, the decision to revamp the corporate identity was not difficult. We presented a few different approaches, but this direction stood out as a great evolution of the current identity, providing the company with a much more professional and elegant brand identity.
Of course, once you design a new logo you must also re-evaluate all your materials. We designed a completely new set of business papers, including business cards and letterhead - which, as we usually do, we delivered in printed form as well as a Word template for digital correspondence.
Doing business in Europe is different than doing business in the US. There is a formality in Europe - as well as an appreciation for all things beautiful that is not quite as prevalent in the US. This is especially true in Italy - which is the country where Global Startups focuses its European business dealings. Michele Libraro, the CEO of Global Startups was particularly pleased with the simplicity and elegance of the marketing materials - because they helped him make the right impression - or as they say in Italy "la bella figura".
We worked closely with the management team at Global Startups to make sure that the website met their needs. This meant developing an information architecture that was simple and easy to navigate - and a technology platform that allowed them to update the site on the fly. Additionally, we made sure that the visual style emphasized the company's positioning as a bridge connecting European markets with US technology and vice versa. Although this is a very small web site, we feel that it provided Global Startups with an excellent vehicle to communicate the value and sophistication of the brand.
